Oysters

Remember my oysters. It’s too late in the year to eat them. Besides, they’re like my babies. I’ve raised them since they were about the size of my little fingernail. Now some of them are five inches long. I’ll eat them this autumn. I’ll feel like a cannibal Here’s what’s left of them. It’s about 40 pounds.

Why is it too late in the year to eat them??
I think that anytime is a good time to eat oysters, especially if they are 5 inches long.

Oysters in southern waters are eaten all year round. Up in cooler waters the oysters reproduce in warmer months. That’s why you should only eat those oysters during months that have an “r” in their spelling. In warmer months the oysters are full of sperm or eggs. You can really tell the difference when they are fried. I had some two days ago, and they were mushy on the inside and the flavor wasn’t nearly as good. I could make some crude jokes here, but I’ll leave that to your imagination. I love oysters. Now that my main residence is Florida I won’t be growing oysters any more. Check my Tuesday blog. I tried some Eastern Shore (of the Chesapeake Bay) Oyster Stout.

Thanks for the information on the oysters. I didn’t know about that.
I did see the post on stout. I like the 16 mile brewery beers. Never tried the stout. The ingredients sound a little weird. I will stick to the Guinness.
