That was four years ago now. On that trip we also went to the Zurich opera. Saw Tosca. But nothing I have ever seen, music, sports drama, improv, could come close to that performance in Milan. The opera house is magnificent. It was pretty much destroyed during the war, and then rebuilt. The sets were unbelievable. The city scene in Act 2 was two levels high with shops and horses and carriages and lots of people. It snowed in the third act. And, of course, the orchestra and singers were the best in the world. If I were rich I’d go back there every year.
