Really funny. Something warm and innocent about those guys. Great humour!
One of the greatest comedies ever made. For you young pups, it’s a two-reeler. Cue mark is at 20:15 to roll the other projector.
So as you have heard by now, Oliver Hardy was born and mainly raised in Georgia. That probably led to his pronunciation of “first” as “foist,” a common vowel shift in the South.
Also, in Way Out West, there was this:
Hardy : Well, fan my brow! I’m from the South!
Mary Roberts : You are?
Laurel : Well, shut my mouth! I’m from the South too!
Hardy : The South of what, sir?
Laurel : The South of London.
Right. I remember those lines. They were just too great. So many comedians these days have to be dirty to make people laugh. A little off the subject, the Beatles music always impressed me not only because it was so darn good, but every song they ever did was PG rated. Except maybe Strawberry Fields and Lucy in the Sky.
