Back Home Tomorrow

It’s a long trip. We leave here at 6:30 tomorrow morning and get back h0me around 10:30 at night. Whew.

I haven’t gone through my Alaska photos yet, but you may be interested in this video I took on the beach behind Dr. Fangs house. The golden eagle was there on the beach when a bald eagle flew by. I took it with my IPhone, so I couldn’t blow it up so much. But it was pretty thrilling to me.

The bald eagle was the one being chased. And the smaller birds mobbed the bald eagle, not the golden.

I won’t be able to post tomorrow, so here are two strips.

I have always loved the “for deposit only” gag for years.

I love how the little birds give predator birds (eagles and hawks) a ration of shyte. I live by a south facing hill and the predators snack on voles and other ground rodents. One spring a baldie took off with his catch, but Little Bird was on him. As he struggled to climb, Little Bird kept swooping in. Feathers actually fell. So Big Bad Eagle dropped the rodent. As he was falling, he was clawing furiously at the air. I was dying of laughing, too bad it was long before cell phones. The eagle dove and retrieved his prey in mid-air and the battle resumed. It went on for a good twenty minutes, and the eagle (no doubt disgusted) departed. No idea on whether the rodent survived his landing. My ribs ached from laughing!

When I was a kid in the trailer park. We made a game of running across a lane and dodging a mockingbird that was protecting his nest. Those pecks on the head really hurt.
