Area 51

If you’re not up to date on what Area 51 is, or concerning the Facebook March on Area 51, Google it and get caught up.

Briefly, Area 51 is where the U.S. Government hides all the evidence about aliens from outer space. (I think they have Zerblat locked up there someplace) I have a story about Area 51. I know a man who was in Defense Intelligence, at a pretty high level. Years ago he told me about the time he was at Area 51 in a room where there were several radar screens. As his guide was talking, a strange event occur on one of the screens. He didn’t describe it in detail other than to say it was very strange anomaly. His guide reminded and warned my friend and his tour group that whatever he and they saw was very confidential, and they must not, being under oath, repeat what they had witnessed there to anyone.

A few years later there was another man whom I knew who went to Area 51. He told me exactly the same story as my other friend had told me several years before. My two friends had never known one another. Each story was identical in detail.

I believe that the myth of Area 51 is just that – a myth, perpetrated by the military to make people believe that there are extraterrestrials among us. Perhaps it is to keep people from guessing what the true purpose of Area 51 is. Perhaps it’s just some military employees having fun with the public. I don’t believe that there are space aliens in Area 51.

Now Loinfruit has a different theory. He tells me that Space Aliens built the pyramids. Could be true. The Great Pyramid has about 2.3 million blocks, each weighing about 5000 pounds. ‘Splain it to me!

I’ve driven by there and seen the signs. USE OF DEADLY FORCE AUTHORIZED. That means by them, not you. I believe they are seriously warning you to stay out. Who cares what the reason is.

For what it’s worth, they are the same signs they put up at all the bombing and target ranges here in the west. They are marked on aviation charts as ‘Restricted’. Area 51 is a small part within Groom Lake R-4808 N. Ground to unlimited. You can ask for permission to enter. Will you get it? I doubt it.

Here are two safe ways to look at it.,-115.8272175,9357m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x80b81bcbbbfe72db:0x4a91edd68dd199d0!8m2!3d37.2766745!4d-115.798936
This satellite is apparently above ‘unlimited’ altitude. Notice the base and runways south of the dry lake.
This is the chart I mentioned. No improvements are noted, but no one is supposed to be flying over them anyway.

My point is you just should not argue with a ten foot gorilla. Especially when he has all the big-boy toys.

So do yourself a favor and ignore that Fakebook Furor. If you need more excitement in your life, go to Portland and kick some Antifa goon in the shins. Wave an American flag as they tune you up, just like Mother Packer does Dr Enos.

That first link that Chris gives is a satellite view of Area %1. Looks pretty spooky to me. The second is a topical map. “Doo doo doo dooo, Doo doo doo doo” (That’s the theme from “Twilight Zone”.

That area of the US has no match anywhere in the world. I love traveling through it. It’s called the Basin and Range, a geologic province where the continental plate is pulling apart and large blocks are dropping. With little rain to stimulate plant growth, the geology is yours to see. Easterners call it wasteland, but it is spectacularly beautiful. It takes a special kind of person to live there too. John McPhee has an excellent book on how to enjoy it.

Too bad the military used so much of it for bombs and tests, though the reality is that it preserved it with the closures.

In this light, could you post the strip where Ernie first meets Zerblat? It was one of the first Ernie comics that I read.

That story is in the 1991-1992 collection which I have ready to publish. But I don’t think I’ll do that until next year, so I’ll go ahead and post it in a
August. If I forget, send me an email to remind me. I’ve just put together the 2013-2014 collection as well. I hope to get at least one more ready this year. It’s a lot of work putting them together.
