Liarsville was a tent town on the way from Skagway toward White Pass. It had been named Liarsville during the Gold Rush because that’s where the newspaper people stayed, and they were well known for making stuff up about the prospectors. The present day Liarsville is a recreation of the original town for the tourists. There was a general store, a reporters tent, a bar tent, a brothel tent, etc. Lots of college kids come up from elsewhere to work at these tourist places during the summer

You can also pan for gold. Of course the gravel is salted
