More fun with Baby Nicole

By the way, my sister-in-law’s car needed a new starter. Without asking me she had it towed just down the street to the Shell station. She had them call me up. How much? They wanted $758 to put in a new starter. That was yesterday. I told them what I thought of that. Today they called me and told me they would do the job for $655 with a one year warrantee. It’s just the way auto repair places rip people off, and it’s even worse if you happen to be a woman, and even worser if you happen to be a woman in your 70’s. It burns me up. The mechanic I go to is going to put it in with a lifetime warrantee for $438.

Shoulda kept that 1980s Chevy. $39.95 for the replacement, lifetime warranty, and an hour on the lift, maybe $100. Or if you have basic tools and a floor jack, go it yourself.

A friend just had to do his daughter’s Rice Rocket. It’s that S- car that every chick with a dog owns, here in Colorado. Pull the whole top of the engine, including the fuel rail. Two days start to finish and a box of bandaids.

Ya, quite the rip off. Starters are easy to replace, maybe 1/2 hour labor. A new one is prolly about $200. But being an old guy myself, I don’t crawl under a car any more, I wouldn’t be able to get back up (seriously).
