Phew!

I’m back. I’m too old for this stuff. I drove a U-Haul 1200 miles in 19 hours. Believe me, the truck was full of totally useless junk. The truck cost $2500. Gas was about $300. Now I’m going to pay $125 a month for the rest of my pathetic life to store $200 worth of Frau Grace and Loinfruit’s totally useless crap. God Help me.

That truck view was after I unloaded a pile of junk in front. College Hunks Hauling Junk wanted $273 to do it. Two septuagenarians did it in about three hours. And one of them was Frau Grace.

I missed Yesterday’s strip:

Here’s a Sunday that ran at the same time as the astrology story in May 1990. Effie has a hard time picking out some new shoes…

My Aunt Ethel had shoes like that that she put goldfish in. No kidding.

It’s a bit late, but here’s my trick.

Take everything out to the sidewalk. Mark them prominently $10, $20, what have you. For the boxes, mark them “No Peeking, Take a Chance, ???, $1”. Then make a big sign saying “Garage Sale , Tomorrow at 9am, No Early Sales”.

Mysteriously it will all be gone in the morning.

The only things of mine that I brought back: two bookcases, my great grandfather’s Photographic History of the Civil War, my meat grinder and a toilet brush. All the rest is Frau’s and Loinfruit’s.

Been here. Done that. Have you screamed yet and cussed out humanity? Until then you ain’t ready for the finals. Does Lornfruit live in Austin? My daughter lives there. What a potential scary combination.

Ha, and you don’t think they will ever raise the storage rent?

I don’t care. It’s worth it not to have all that junk cluttering up the house. As soon as I take all the junk off the top of it, I’ll take a picture of Frau Grace’s grandfather’s industrial sewing machine.
