Saturday

About the only good thing about being old is that you’re pretty close to the front of the line for the Covid shots. We’re still not out of the woods. I haven’t bitched about this for a long time, but if everyone would just wear a mask tens of thousands of Americans would still be alive. I’ve said this before: Not being allowed to yell “FIRE!” in a crowded theater is NOT a violation of your First Amendment rights. It’s a matter of civic responsibility. The same goes for wearing a mask. Then there are those who don’t believe science. Did you see the video of the Tennessee preacher who swears there is no pandemic? He’s not only stupid, he’s evil.

Bud, I love ya, but you should put on your physicist hat and study the size of a virus and the pores in whatever masks you love. Using a mask is like building a barb wire fence to keep out (or in) rabbits. Virtue-signaling only makes the wearer feel good.

They do make masks to block viruses. They look like moon suits. Good luck buying one.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programing.

You’re partially right. Virus microbes can and do exist on tiny dust particles that float in the air as well. But masks will certainly reduce the spread of virus microbes on larger droplets, like the kind when people cough or sneeze.

Scientist said Asbestos is great, DDT is great and there are healthy cigarettes. Science is not always right. As far as wearing a mask, If the Democratic party had not lied to us for so long and had not brought this virus here maybe we might trust them more.

Find scientists who are not employed by the asbestos industry, the DDT industry or the cigarette industry and see what they say. The same goes for the lead paint industry, the fossil fuel industry, the nuclear energy industry and the company that sold the tapeworm pills at the turn of the century.

Alan, I would sure like to know the details of your claim that the “the Democratic party had not lied to us for so long and had not brought this virus here.” Please enlighten.

Very well said. My thoughts exactly.

My vote is with you, Dr. Grace! Masks keep one’s germs and whatever to one’s self.

    What’s a crowded theater, anyway? :^]

Of my work circle here in NoVa, one colleague has tested positive, he was marginally symptomatic. Doctor advised hospital for three days as a precaution. If we have hospital capacity for precautions, I have to wonder how serious things are.

By all means those at-risk should sequester, mask, and be first in line for a vaccination. But govts mandating rules that aren’t working, except to ruin local economies? I would much rather live in Florida.
