Now about my oven, do you ever check the temperature after it’s been on for a while? I’ll set it for, say, 362º and let it cook for 15 minutes or so. Then I turn the heat off and then reset it to 362º, and the temperature will read like 275º. And the oven has to reheat. The oven I had at my last place up in Maryland did the same thing. I understand that If you set it to convection roast or something like that, it will lower the temperature. But it does it on regular bake. I hate it that they make ovens that think for you. It burns me up! Frau Grace makes about ten fruitcakes per annum. She made two just last Sunday. Right! Undercooked! Now she can’t give them away so I have to eat them.
It’s like butter. Now you have to buy butter by the half pound, at least at Winn Dixie. I bought something called President Butter a few days back. Frau Grace needed it to make her fruitcake. I bought two packages so I would have a pound. I got it home and looked at the package. SEVEN STINKING OUNCES!!! I’m beginning to understand why so many Americans are stockpiling UZIs.
