Heeee’s Back

Hi Everybody. I was gone most of last week. I’ve stopped announcing when and if I’m away for obvious reasons. I was listening to an old Dragnet radio show last week. What happened was people would go away for a week or so and not stop the newspapers or the milk deliveries. Two crooks would break in the back window and dress like an old married couple, call a furniture store and sell everything down to the bare walls. “Your job… Get’Em!” Joe did just that. The app I use for the old radio programs is called OTR.

I was up in Northern Virginia with friends touring some of the vinyards. It was very nice. The country side is beautiful. The old tasting barns are picturesque. It would have been perfect if the wine hadn’t tasted like cow pee. You pay 30 or 40 bucks for a bottle. Then you try to choke it down. I went to Costco today and bought a couple bottles of 30 buck wine. I want to test my savorial memory and see if my newly purchased El Barko de Gomez can compare. I’ll let you know.

OMG, that is the local/regional vineyards where I am at. When they shut down the tobacco quota allotment program, which wasn’t a bad idea and created high quality “hand cured” stuff miraculously, they had USDA agents come around and tell people “Just do the vineyard thing it’s easy”. And some fell for it! Who due to their beliefs can’t sample or care about the quality of their product. And so… it is BAAAAAAD.

I also brewed my own for fun and it is also bad but I that is because I am really dumb and don’t know what I am doing. And I’m not selling it to anyone. And I gave up after several years, realizing I was hopelessly incompetent.

But in the end guess what. My kids, observing my hobbyist failures, got together and founded a brewery not a winery and they make really good stuff. And that’s just their side gig.

Well good for your kids. We went to Vanish, and the beer was pretty good. Even if the wine is bad, the country side is beautiful. I’ll post some photos this week.
