I came across an old uninked daily today. I don’t think I ever used the gag. Here’s pretty much what my pencil work looked like:

I would often draw the characters onĀ  20 lb paper and then transfer it to 2 ply Strathmore Bristol board. The way you usually transfer a pencil drawing is you shade the opposite side of the pencil drawing with soft lead, so the drawing acts something like old carbon paper. Then you trace over the drawing. You can see the kind of dotted lines. The was I did it here is I drew the strip in reverse, then I laid the penciled side of the paper down and embossed it. Here’s my embosser:

There’s a spring in the pointy end so you can change the pressure. I still use it.
