Steve A. says he had ten kids (Are you nuts, Steve? All I had is Loinfruit and that was plenty)… Here’s six of Steve’s. Ain’t they cute?
Eric P emailed me about Chief Halftown: I watched the Chief Halftown show in the 1950s. The show ran until 1999, and is very likely the longest running show with the same star ever. It has to be. I know that there is one soap that has been going for a long time, and one gal was on it for a long time, but I don’t know if she was on it for 53 years. Chief Halftown must have been mighty old when he finally laid down his tomahawk. Good for him.
Growing up in the Sioux City area, our equivalent TV show was Canyon Kid’s Corner. It ran a long time too (32 years!) with the same host Jim Henry. Likely would have made a longer run if Citadel hadn’t fired people after taking over the station.
I was on the show twice. Still remember where I was sitting. (smile) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canyon_Kid%27s_Corner
That’s really neat. We left PA in 1950, and then all the shows were out of New York. Some of those kids show hosts did really well. Soupy Sales e.g. In Tampa there was a gal who would get the kids’ initials, write them on an easel then draw a caricature from them. She had a parrot named Poopdeck that sat on the easel. One day Poopdeck dumped a huge load right on the little kid’s picture. I liked it. And remember B’wana Don in Jungle La? He had a little leopard and a little chimp. He’d put the chimp in the cage and then throw in the leopard. What a riot!
Great photos!
