Sunday

BTW, in Bern, Switzerland, the Academy of Cheeses just held it’s annual stinky cheese competition. You might want to read about it. It’s a good article, one after my own heart. Maybe tomorrow I’ll rerun my Stinky Cheese Week story.

This is from 2009:

Thanks for the cheese link. Gruyere is one of my favorites, and now I’ll be wanting it all day.

Also, I’m a week late on this, but Nov 10 being the 50th anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald reminded me of one of your best punchlines ever (and possibly a top punchline of all time). In a series where Sid is trying to pick up women (I forget why), every one of them knows who he is because he dated (ripped off) some friend of relative of theirs. Finally, he meets a woman who just got off the plane from Outer Mongolia (or somewhere similar) and knows nobody in the US. However, Sid once dated her cousin’s friend’s aunt’s nephew’s roommate’s sister’s third grad teacher (or some such thing). Sid glumly stares ahead and says “The legend lives on from the Chippewa down…”

Makes me laugh every time I think of it. I even wrote lyrics to continue the verse:

“…to the slagheaps of Bayonne, New Jersey.
Of that bum they call Sid,
And the scams that he did,
    Mostly to his nephew, Ernie.”

My insurance does not cover annual tune-ups at Happy Acres.
