1 pound dried limas, 1 pound dried great northern, some big fat smoked ham hocks, bay leaves, salt to taste. Add chunks of ham at the end. Careful with salt. Sometimes the ham hocks and ham can be kind of salty. Cook long and slow. It’s best when you let it cool down over night and then reheat it.

I cook the beans with ham hocks. When it’s cooked I cut up a ham steak and add that. It’s very tasty.
