So Mike O’Flaherty, Esq was settling down one Sunday morning for the ball game. He went to the basement to grab some beers and ice them up. He noticed that there was a drip at the valve over the water heater. “Well, this won’t take long,” and took a pipe wrench to tighten it up. The drip became a solid flow, predictably.
So he called up his buddy Luigi the plumber to come over. Begrudgingly, Luigi agreed and advised him that it was doubly overtime including travel time as it was a Sunday and there was a ball game he wanted to watch.
So Luigi arrived, took one look and smacked the valve his wrench. The leak stopped. Luigi took out an invoice and handed the bill to Mike. $880.00.
Mike said, “Jeez, pal, I’m a lawyer and my bill would only be half that,”
Luigi replied, “Yeah, that’s why I quit my law practice — no money in it with all the competition.”
