All the names of my characters except for a couple just pop into my head. But I’m sure you know that :Luis Firpo was a heavyweight boxer. He’s the one that Dempsey knocked out of the ring.Maybe it was my subconscious.
The fight was very controversial if you read about it. My cousin by marriage (I called him Uncle Al in the strip) claims that when he was in the Coast Guard in WWII Dempsey picked him out of the sailors (He was a big good looking guy) and did an exhibition. Uncle Al said all he could do was stand there and try to cover his head.
