Yesterday I mentioned my old Dietzgen. I bought it in 1961 or 62. Top of the line. Over the years I gave it quite a workout.

Here’s another old single panel magazine cartoon:
Years ago, before we got hitched, Frau G and I rode some mules down the Grand Canyon. I developed a great respect for mules. Frau G is second behind our guide who was riding Mizell. It’s the only mule name that I remember. I’m third from the back. It had to be 1975.
I used both K&E and Pickett slide rules. Fun times! Years ago I was on a mule ride on Molokai down to the leper colony. Despite my urging, my mule, “Roman,” got to his usual position – right in the rear. Gave me an opportunity to talk with the wrangler and I learned a lot about mules. The reason they don’t use horses? Horses spook when a snake appears and they jump. Not good. Mules, on the other hand, when spooked will just stop. Much better!
I remember my first year in college, I took a class in slide rule. Ah, the good old days.
Good ol’ days! you got that right.

Tou told me about that. A few years ago when we went to Hawaii we looked into it. They didn’t do it anymore. They closed down the leper colony.
