Sid attended the University of Bridgeport. It was established on the estate of P. T. Barnum. One of the buildings is Barnum Hall. I just did a little online research. Evidently there’s no evidence that Barnum said “There’s a sucker born every minute.”

I’ve probably read this storyline at least twice, but it wasn’t until this time that I understood the guru’s name. Har har.
Did you write this when yogic flying was all the rage? I remember it being in the news when an enlightened one demonstrated it in my area. The description in the paper sounded like the line about the winged frog that I think is coming up soon (or that may have been a different Sid flashback story).
And not believing that Barnum said that line is just what “they” want you to believe. Sucker.
Regarding the Barnum attribution, I never believed it. It would have been completely out of character for a seasoned and shrewd businessman like Barnum to say such a thing. Especially given that he relied on a significant amount of repeat business from his customers.
