OK, as promised, here’s the Prairie Dog story.  It’s in the 1995-1996 collection.

Early on I did an Electrolux story. The company threatened to sue me. (Oops. I see I failed to color Sid’s necktie in the last panel)

not only true, but local for me. Gay Balfour of Cortez, Colorado, is the one who invented and perfected it. Cortez is about an hour’s drive to the west. He is still in business. Dog-Gone Prairie Dog Control, 970 565 9878.

Electrolux seems to have faded away. Some sort of remnant of the company is in Sweden, a fatality of spin-offs, whatever that is. I’d think twice about visiting there. They may still be mad. Especially if they read this blog.

At the time Electrolux was the biggest vacuum company in Sweden. When I was a little kid in Pennsylvania my mother had one. I thought it was so cool.
Do you know that Cortez, Florida, is in my neighborhood? It’s an old fishing village on the mainland just at the south bridge to Anna Maria Island where I grew up. Virtually all the Gulf seafood that comes into Florida goes through there.
