I missed a day last week. Here it is:

I found a note that I wrote to myself God knows how long ago. Somebody asked me to repost this story that I had posted in 2021. Whoever you are, sorry. Here it is, from 2001:

When I was young I used to hang out at a bar/pool hall on Tennessee Street in Tallahassee across the street from the university. I didn’t play pool, but I spent many, many hours there and drank many, many glasses of beer. It was the Pastime Tavern. Once they had a barbershop in a little side room. Then for a while some guys ran a little eatery they called The Squat ‘n Gobble. This is the shirt I bought some 50 odd years ago. The lady on the shirt is Miss Kitty. She sold me my first legal beer when I turned 21.

Is today Groundhog’s Day? I thought of that just now. My favorite holiday. They ought to make it an official federal holiday. People shouldn’t have to work on groundhog’s Day.

From June of 2006…

Temperature last night in Yellowknife was -31ºF. Not to worry. The high today is forecast to be a balmy -19º

Sorry, date night is off the menu this week.  Frau G is winging her way to Yellowknife as I write this. While the cat’s away (freezing her buns off) the rat will play.

Once again, thank you for all your birthday wishes.

Thank you for your good wishes on the anniversary of my natal day which was yesterday. When I turned 60 I stopped having birthdays. It didn’t work.
