The Isle of Wight is a 25 minute ferry ride off Portsmouth Harbor. It’s often a vacation destination for the Brits. Remember “When I’m 64”?
There’s lots to see that we missed, like the goat rescue farm, but we did see two of the best spots. First was Queen Victoria’s summer cottage, The Osborne House:
The inside was nice too. Statues and artwork galore:
Nice furniture. No IKEA.
Another place that is worth a gander, the miniature village in Godshill. The little town itself has a few old thatched cottages:
Government House, Melbourne Australia is a replica of Osborne House, but its ballroom is a few feet longer than the original – apparently Queen Victoria was not amused.
Do you know where she was not amused came from? There was a comic one time and she attended his performance. He did an character impersonation of the Queen. Afterwards she said “We are not amused.”
I know of the Isle of Wight from the legendary 1970 music festival – Hendrix, Doors, Who, Jethro Tell, Baez et al., and Leonard Cohen calming a crowd of 500,000+ that was on the edge of rioting on the last day.

I understand the Queen had a collection of art that might be considered porn today. Any reference or display?
That one painting I showed had some naked ladies in it. There were lots of ding-dong statues.

Wow. I never heard of that concert. I’m afraid those days are over.
We are amused, Bud. Thanks
