Robert R asked about colors that I use. I constantly create my own colors, but there are many that I use over and over. Here is that pallet. Sort of.

(That second Pool Table stripe is wrong. Don’t know how it came about.)

When published on the web, the colors sometimes don’t look so good. There are a finite number of colors that the internet can handle. Here is today’s strip in the original non-web colors:

This is the Pantone pallet that I use.

Ok, thanks. Now in this universe what was Sid in jail for and for how long? Did he ever graduate from college and if so what degree?

I never thought that you had to adjust the color system for use on web pages versus print. Is the color same for books as it was for newspaper or is there an adjustment there too?

You are never too old to learn and get edumacated.

    • Bud Grace says:

First, the color is the same for books as it is for papers. But I recolored all the strips that I put in books. It’s not tp very time consuming as coloring from scratch because it’s easy to replace an existing color with a new one. Frau G did almost all the coloring until about 2015 or 16 when I took over. So a lot of the recoloring is more reflective of my taste.

Once Sid said the he had lots of arrests, but no convictions. Perhaps he was lying. When I met him he was 54 years old. Sid went to the University of Bridgeport, which was built on the estate of P. T. Barnum.

Robert- If you want to get some more “edumatation”, take a look at this primer:
    https://www.vistaprint.com/hub/correct-file-formats-rgb-and-cmyk?srsltid=AfmBOooPyrfsIhi0A1Q3B0ZodRvOZAmbkEVsbrovMihVUFBHamBFYdn2

In a nutshell, if for the web, stick with RGB, if printing (like comic books, etc) use CYMK.

This is why Bud said that sometimes his comic’s colors don’t look the same on the web.

    • Bud Grace says:

Not quite. If I were to post my comics in CMYK you’re right. But I don’t. Photoshop has a “save as” option which is saving for the web. That’s what I use. But I didn’t know that coloring in RGB would do the same thing. Thanks for the info.

I understand about color space it just I did not think about newspaper printing, that is comic strips.

Bigger issue is that’ somehow’ Sid is getting fat on Effies fine dining. Research into that could yield a Noble Prise.

Fun discussion – I use thePantone color palette but all of my stuff is printed, so CMYK for me. As Bud does, I pull out certain colors to make my own palette and just use them over and over.

    • Bud Grace says:

Where can I see your work?

      • AndyW says:

I owned a print shop and hired wonderful graphic designers – but working with PageMaker and then InDesign was fun for me – I could rough out what the customer wanted and then they would finish it up. Now – I do promo ads for events at our recreation center. Having lot of fun with the art available today. I switched to Affinity software so I didn’t have to rent from Adobe. Amazing stuff! Half price this week ($30… and you own it). Affinity has software similar to InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Good enough for me.

        • Bud Grace says:

As I said, I have Affinity, but you can’t cut off the anti-aliases. That’s no good in what I do. I need sharp lines. That damn Adobe. That’s why I still have my 2010 27″ IMac. I had to buy another monitor for it. I don’t know if you’re familiar with Mac operating systems. They’re up to OS 15 now. With 64 bit processors. I’m 32 bit, OS 10. I also use a 2018 with OS 11. If my 2010 dies, I have another 21 inch Mac that’s older but also runs OS 10. I also have an old laptop that runs OS 10. And I have an even older laptop that has an old Motorola chip. It works and I could use Photoshop on that one as well.

Been on a Mac since my SE20 in 1987. Now, that was a screaming machine – 20 MB hard drive. I bit the bullet (lost software) when OS went to 64 bit, and got one of the last Intel machines even though I never used Microsoft software. Ready for the M chip and looking now. I could nurse my MacBook Pro (we travel a lot so I needed something I could take along) but it’s tough to look at comics on the small screen crowded with ads. Should just get an additional monitor.
I coordinate an iPhone workshop at the senior rec center and the small size works great. Easy to mirror-image on the video screen. Lots of old folk who have no idea of how to use their iPhone that their kids bought them. We do have fun! The gals want to learn how to use it (we use dictation a lot), but many men just tuck it away and claim they do not need it.
What a collection of Macs! I donated my SE20 to a museum. It was the beginning of desktop publishing. I had Microsoft Word 1.o and PageMaker 2.0.
